The For Richmond network is so grateful for the ways that Facilitated Learning Centers are serving Richmond Public Schools students and their families during virtual learning.

A number of Facilitated Learning Centers (FLCs) have requested  Trauma Training for their staff and volunteers and For Richmond is partnering with Greater Richmond SCAN to provide it. We want to thank the Wheless Family Stewardship Fund for their generous sponsorship of this valuable training that is being offered to participants at no cost.

The training will take place on Wednesday, Nov. 18 from 7:30-9 p.m. via Zoom and will include:

 ·       Wellness & Self Care for FLC Staff and Volunteers

·       Introduction to Trauma & Resiliency

·       Specific Strategies & Tools for Helping Your Students

Our trainers are two of Richmond’s best:

Amy Johnson is a Licensed Professional Counselor, Registered Play Therapist, Licensed School Counselor, and Nationally Certified Counselor specializing in working with children and adolescents. Currently, Amy is working as a school-based Trauma-Informed Education Specialist with Greater Richmond SCAN, supporting the needs of staff, students, and families within the Community Learning Center programs at Henrico County Public Schools.  Over the past several years, Amy has served as a school counselor in an elementary school setting, as a Parent Group Facilitator with Greater Richmond SCAN, as well as a therapist in a private practice.  She also has experience working within a local CSB providing outpatient therapy to children and adolescents, while also working collaboratively with their families and partner agencies.  Amy has a special interest in assisting teen parents and supporting children, adolescents and teens on their healing journey.

Amanda Lynch, MA, CTP-E, is a writer and career educator specializing in Self-Care, Mindfulness-Based Trauma Informed Practices, and Restorative Justice.
