January Foster Care & Adoption Network Meeting

Exciting changes are coming in 2024 for our Foster Care & Adoption Network meetings! We will now combine the monthly Richmond, Henrico, Hanover and Chesterfield meetings into one regional meeting on the second Wednesday of each month at noon. The first meeting will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 10th from 12-1:30 pm at The Commons (formerly U-Turn) located at 2101 Maywill Street.

Each meeting will include time to connect with others serving in this space, a time of equipping with featured speakers, and breakouts by locality to plan our collaborative efforts. We believe this new format will facilitate an increased sharing of resources and best practices for all involved and propel this crucial work of caring for vulnerable youth and families forward.

This month we will focus on equipping the network in the area of providing wrap around support to foster and kinship families in our churches and those who are referred to us by the departments of social services. A full 50% of foster families stop fostering after one year and wrap around support is the solution. We are honored to hear from Hannah Pannell, a Hanover foster parent about why this support is critical and to be trained by Kristin Blalock of Henrico CASA on how to do it well.

This is a great opportunity to invite those who are not currently involved in the network to be equipped in this critical area. Would you take a moment now to consider who you may want to invite? They are welcome to stay for the collaborative portion of the meeting or to leave after the training is done.
